Should I get an apple laptop and a PC desktop or a PC laptop and a Mac desktop?
Generally I'll be doing heavy editing work in my desktop and I am planning to use my laptop mainly for other works like technical computing.

Sounds to me like you need a Mac desktop and a PC laptop. Mac - good for editing PC - good for technical
