Why would you say an Apple laptop is better than other brands of laptops?

Why would you say an Apple laptop is better than other brands of laptops and why? and recommendations?
also recommendations for which apple laptop one should get. thankyou!

They are crap that's why they only hold 10% of the market, also most software is incompatible with macs so good luck with your incompatibility. ...

Oh, they're brilliant. You pay so much more for them (even more than other branded laptops). Plus they cost more to fix and you won't be able to run any of that useless PC software! And you get to be part of the Apple 'Community'! How awesome is that?!

Apple laptops are better than PC in media related programs IMHO although there isn't much software that works on Macs.

Apple Laptops are among the best crap laptops ever. I thing they are currently on the no. 1 rank for the most crap you get in buying laptops.

Have you noticed who many people are quick to say Macs are "crap", but make no attempt to justify what they say? Unlike them, I can stand by my statements. It's easy to justify something when some thought has gone into the opinion. It amazes me how many people try bash Macs when their own words make it painfully clear that they have no clue what they are talking about. If Macs where so obviously inferior and not worth the price tag, no one would buy them. Here are few of my favorite Mac myths: 1) Macs are more expensive than PC's a) Macs have a USEFUL life about twice that of PC's. A Mac user will be replacing his computer half as often. Have you ever tried selling a 6 year old PC? Macs are cheaper than PC's. Go to eBay or some other auction site to see the proof. People buy more old Macs than old PCs. b) In my PC using days, I would plan on buying hardware after bringing home a new computer. Not when I get a new Mac. This too, is part of the cost of using a PC. c) When you add to the "cheaper" PC to make it the same as the "expensive" Mac, you get about the same price. PC's have a lower price tag because you are buying less. 2) Everyone uses Windows. a) Really? Why are we having this conversation? b) According to a July 2008 article in Macworld, Apple is now the third largest computer company in the world. This means only two PC makers (Dell and HP) are bigger. Hundreds are smaller. 3) Windows is better at games than Macs. a) And a game console is better at games than Windows. 4) Not enough software/hardware for the Mac. a) With the exception of games (read #3), there is no class of software available for Windows not available for the Mac. b) Volume? There is a larger selection for Windows than for the Mac, but walk down the aisle and see how much is crap and/or outdated (and discounted) software. c) Hardware selection for the Mac is lesser in number, but not as it is for software. Most companies are willing to take the time and expense of coding Mac drivers. Based on my experience, it is the crap hardware that usually does not have Mac drivers. This is because the manufacturer knows Mac users don't buy crap hardware. 5) Macs are gay! a) Is this supposed to be an intelligent argument? 6) Software written for Windows will not run on a Mac. a) Software written for the Mac will not run in Windows. What's the point here? 7) Windows 7 will be better than Vista. a) Remember Windows ME? Windows 7 is likely to be better than Vista. This is not the same as "better than Mac OS". 8) Macs are for multimedia. a) And web browsing, video/photo/audio editing, word processing, blogging, email, home work, writing, research, and ... you get the picture. 9) Macs are for idiots. a) Tom Hanks, Stephen Speilberg, Buss Aldin, Martha Stewart, the late Boris Yelsin, Malcom Forbes Jr, Richard Dawkins, Tom Clancy, Scott Adams, Trent Reznor, The Rolling Stones, Bono, Conan O'Brien, Jerry Seinfeld, Rush Limbaugh, Mel Gibson, Clint Eastwood, and Tim Allen, must all be idiots. 10) You can't upgrade a Mac. a) You can upgrade a Mac. Thing is, why would you? It comes fully loaded. 11) Macs are not "compatible". a) This usually means is "PCs are compatible with PCs". Funny, Macs are compatible with Macs, does that make them "compatible" as well? But that brings us to: b) Windows cannot read a Mac formatted disc or access a Macintosh network but the reverse is true. Which is more compatible? 12) Macs and PC's both use Intel processors so they are essentially the same. a) Using this logic, a Yugo and a BMW are essentially the same. 13) Macs don't have a right-click mouse. a) This is old, wrong, and irrelevant. 14) Macs are hard to repair. a) Fix 99% of what may go wrong with a Mac: http://www.cma-aug.com/files/Mac_fix-it.pdf 15) Someone recently argued that he likes Vista because "the virus protection on it is wonderful". a) That's like saying you don't mind living in East LA because you have good health insurance and a comfortable Kevlar vest. 16) The reason Macs have fewer viruses is because the user base is smaller. a) Huh? Explaining why it is true does not make it less true. 17) A Mac *IS* a PC. “PC” stands for “personal computer”. a) “PC” does stand for “personal computer”, but when a discussion is about Macs and PCs, the CONTEXT of the discussion is that “PC” stands for “IBM PC or compatible”. When is a good time to buy an apple laptop?
I want to know when would be the perfect time to buy an apple laptop, so i get the most recent and updated laptop, but not waiting till few days before school starts again just to get it. Does anyone know if they are coming out with a new Mac Book anytime soon?

Now is a great time. They have just upgraded their processors (Intel Core 2 Duo processors) so if you have a money I would go have a field day at you local Apple store or on their website. Not to mention that you don't get all of the crap you don't need like on a pc (AOL, Norton....blah blah blah).

Well where do you go to school? Cus I bought mine and its awesome but if you wait till the fall usually most university campus' have the promotion buy an apple get an ipod free so aside from that from what I heard they are workin on leapord but I dont know when their new products will be out.

The Macbook just got upgraded and the MBP is due. You can get a student discount if your going to college this fall.

You must spend your money for the best brand. As I know HP and Dell are the best in laptops for a long time and they are very reliable too. I trusted HP and I bought a HP laptop 2 years before, and still like the day I bought it. Didn't even have to service it at least once up to now. I recommend you to buy a HP (with experience) or Dell laptop. On www.hp.com you can even customize your laptop. And also you can check the price.

Is there a way to disable internet function in Apple laptop?
We have Netgear wi-fi router in our home. Our son has an Apple laptop. We don't want him to be IMing etc. when doing homework. Is there a way to disable internet function without unplugging the router? Unplugging router works but then no one else can be on line either.

Well, you should be able to get into your router's setup from one of your PCs (methods for this vary, consult the router's manual) and disable *just* the wireless network. Anyone physically plugged into the router would still be able to get online, so if the laptop is the only thing connecting wirelessly, that would work.

My fren has this apple laptop n alwis find it difficult to watch movie. She always has to borrow my laptop to watch movie cuz she dunno what software to use in her apple. can anyone help?

I'd go with the VLC Media Player for the Mac. Not only is it well-made, it's also the only totally standalone media player I know of, no codecs or other messy files required.
