You could try the "Open office" suite (freeware, from Sun Microsystems). There's a setting for 'translating' Microsoft <>Open office... not real sure on the Apple aspect, but it's free, so worth a look. For the global settings: Oo> Tools> Options> Load/Save>Microsoft: here check whether you want Oo to handle incoming Microsoft 'stuff' (L) and/or to have your 'stuff' saved so that it can be exported to a Microsoft application (S).

You would need PowerPoint for the Mac OR a Mac PowerPoint Viewer OR Keynote on you Mac which will be able to open a PowerPoint file. There may be other possibilities, but I know these will work.

There is always a version trouble when emailing or transfering a PowerPoint presentation. Effects may get lost. Sounds won't play. Or else problems. To be safe, you can try to save the MS presentation onto a DVD disc, then take the DVD and play it on the Apple Laptop. Or convert the presentation to video and publish it on YouTube, so you can copy from YouTube to the Mac. Tools for converting the PowerPoint presentation to DVD and video: Moyea PPT to DVD Burner (free download at http://www.dvd-ppt-slideshow.com/ppt_to_dvd/) I have discussed the PowerPoint emailing and crossplatform playing at the blog http://www.dvd-ppt-slideshow.com/blog/ Hope it help!

Should I get an apple laptop and a PC desktop or a PC laptop and a Mac desktop?
Generally I'll be doing heavy editing work in my desktop and I am planning to use my laptop mainly for other works like technical computing.

I love my Macbook Pro
2 :
get the macbook pro 13 inch not the regular macbook its fast and will easily last you 5 years before you have to upgrade the regular macbook gets dirty after heavy usage and will last about 2 years I had one it got dirty after 1 week and the screen broke it had a dead pixal and was just plain ulgy. If you wan't to save go to the refurbished Apple store and get the black macbook.
3 :
Macbook Pro 17-inch 3.06 Ghz Intel core 2 Duo 8Gb ram 256 SSD Anti-glare screen $3500 dollars PS: next time give us a budget, or some people might just list the most expensive one with the most expensive hardware options.
4 :
Well, It depends on what you need. Mac has specifically made 3 notebooks to suit everyone's needs (then in each in 3 sizes and even more speeds etc). I would buy the Macbook Pro, as it is the most advanced, most powerful. Macbook Air is great portable (super thin) Macbook is cheaper. Best mac there is is the top of the line 17-inch macbook Pro. Good Luck - Enjoy your new mac - you won't regret buying mac! Check out the website too (www.apple.com) - heaps of info would help you on this question.

What should I do if my Apple laptop wont on battery power?

What should I do if my Apple laptop wont on battery power?
When it is plugged in to a power outlet, my 6 month old 13" Apple MacBook runs just fine. As soon as I unplug it from the outlet, it shuts down and wont turn on, unless it's plugged back in. When I look at the power level of the battery, it says, "Battery is not charging," even though it is plugged into external power; it also reads that the battery is charged at 85%. What is wrong, and what should I do?

Sounds like it's time to put down the 1st-Grader computer and get something a little more adult and powerful. Or, your battery is just dead. Replace it.
2 :
i think you should replace your dead battery with a new one instead.
3 :
Based on your story, I would presume that your battery's the one malfunctioning.
