Insert your Mac OSX install disk and restart. Hold down the "c" key while it's restarting to start up from that disk. Open the disk utility from the file menu and choose the Macintosh HD and verify and/or repair disk. Hopefully that fixes it. If not then you have a bad drive. If you remove the drive you may be able to recover files to another Mac but in either case you may need to replace the drive. Have you been backing up your data?

Which Apple laptop is best for easily editing videos?

Which Apple laptop is best for easily editing videos?
I have been using Windows computers for so long, I'd like to try an Apple laptop with Mac. I am looking for a laptop possibly with a built in webcam that isn't too expensive, but can easily help me edit videos for Youtube and other online video websites. Thank you

Any of the MacBook series would probably be able to do so. That's how good Apple is =)
2 :
All the laptops have the same video editing capability you just need to have IMovie and you will be fine :)
3 :
Apple laptops, or Macbooks are very expensive and are over-priced compared to other Windows laptops. Getting another Windows laptop might not be that bad. Also, Macbooks are slower than Windows laptops (like Dell) as they only run on dual core processors and cost about $2730 (15" Macbook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.53GHz 4GB DDR3 RAM). I recommend a Dell instead as it is relatively cheap and have powerful processors. For you info, video editing requires a powerful processor like the Intel Core i5 or i7, not a Core 2 Duo it may be too slow for your liking.

Among apple, Macbook Pro is the best for anything.... But there are more powerful laptops which runs on windows.. If you can spend a lot, (Maximum 1700$) you can buy an alienware..... Checkout this link http://www.alienware.com/microsite/m11x/m11x.aspx?tab=laptops

Any of the MacBook Pros would be best because they have the card & firewire inputs. Just pick a size you can afford.

Allow me to translate what Jun said "Apple laptops, or Macbooks are very expensive and are over-priced compared to other Windows laptops that have less features and cheap components. Also, Macbooks look slow if you are confused enough to think processor speed is the only thing that effects computer speed. I recommend Dell because they have better advertising than Apple so they must be better, right?" It's good to be able to speak English and clueless. I'm bilingual! And on to my answer. The kind of video editing you want to do is not processor intensive. Any modern computer (even a PC) will handle it just fine. Just pick the Mac (or PC) that best suits your needs. For longevity, reliability, total cost of ownership, and easy of use, I believe you are making the right choice in looking to Mac.

You might want to take a look at the Macbook MC207LL. It has the software you expect on an Apple. Review Guy posted a four minute video.

I answered a question on whether it was worth it to get an extended warranty. The person who asked the question did not mention the name of the online dealer. Here is a link to their question. So the answer is yes. Question now is from where. Hope this helps. Good Luck. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApZ5KPH63agJ1L_GdCBmc0Pty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20091222222244AAOIlm9&show=7#profile-info-V7Kf1oNUaa

You can buy the AppleCare Protection Plan, which gives you a 3-year warranty from the date you purchase the computer. For the MacBook and the MacBook Air it's $249 at the online Apple Store, or at any Apple Store nationwide.
3 :
The AppleCare three year warranty can be bought anytime in the first year of ownership. It's bought directly from Apple, and is subject to heavy educational discount if the owner/primary user is in education. It doesn't matter where the original purchase was made.

Apple laptop computer to go between it and a PC?

What programs/features would I need to get on a new Apple laptop computer to go between it and a PC?
I'm thinking of getting a new Apple laptop computer sometime in the next few months (because I miss my old apple computer). I have a PC right now and all the computers at work are PCs so I need to be able to transfer info between WORD doc's (for example) and the apple programs...Is this possible? I'm sure there's software out there that can do this but will it be worth the money and easy enough to use? Suggestions??? Thanks.

I'm not positive, but i think you can just get a USB flash drive and most should work on both platforms. This way you can just transfer the files back and forth. If you ask the guy at best buy, he will let you know.
2 :
Just use a USB drive... And if you need to transfer MS Word documents, you need to install Word/Office on the Mac,
3 :
You just need iWork08 which comes with every MacBook and you can open your PC word files with that. http://www.apple.com/iwork/ It comes as a demo version which costs $79.
