I'm trying to open my Apple laptop on my home broadband and the apple doesn't recognize it?
When I open the Apple it shows 2 wireless connections,(which are locked),and not my broadband for my home computer. Any ideas would be welcome.

I am a student who will be using mt laptop primarily for school, but of coarse i will still want to go on MSN ans facebook on it. can i hook my macbook up to our wireless internet also, can i still go on msn on it?

Cons: Apple laptops are generally more expensive, there are a few things that arent supported on apple, and there are less places that fix their laptops aside from the obvious apple store. You should still be able to get on the internet and go on facebook and all that other good stuff.

ok i seriously hate apple...it's too weird and hard to mess arround with half the stuff on it are hidden but yeah cut to the point: how do i make an image a wallpaper from the internet.?note how i have no experience its my first time using this thing

Try right clicking and selecting make this my backround, or it says something like that. but never used apple, so not sure if it is the same.

ok find the image you want from the Internet and click on it to see if it makes the image bigger, because the bigger the image is the less blurry it is for the wallpaper but if it doesn't get any bigger that is ok too,ok right click the image and there should be box and a list of stuff you can do, but on the list it should say make image wallpaper and then just click on that

I think the macbook is better. Because you arn't always going to be wanting to touch your computer screen and stuff. Also, the macbook is easier to carry around.

The touchsmart is a very poor performing laptop. Check out reviews of it. Get the lenovo x201 if you want a tablet.

How do I start over again with an Apple laptop?
My dad gave me his Mac and I want to restart the laptop as if it's all new. But I want to keep his 7GB worth of songs. How do I make it all new and keep the songs at the same time? Is it possible to move the songs to a flash memory? Thanks in advance. :) ~Mehh (:

If you put all of the songs into iTunes, then put all of those on a back-up disc, which is what iTunes asks you to do every-so-often, then you will have his entire libraray on one disc. Once you have done whatever you feel necessary to the Apple notebook you can insert the disc when the machine is on and put all the files back on. Hope this helps. And it does work cause I have recently done the same with my iTunes library. Enjoy. xxxxx

back up the songs on a disk or external hard drive, then i would recommend getting the latest version of leopard for mac, its around $120 bucks, this way you can get all the newest updates and best system thats out right now. If you have a mac store or mac authority store around, you can call them and ask them for help, they are usually really helpful

If your desktop was PC go with PC. There are more software for PC than Mac and also there is a learning curve for you which is not a problem. but my experience is, with PC you have better options than Mac.

The Internet doesn't care what OS you use. IF you already have a lot of PC software, stick with PC like the other person said but, if you are looking to switch over get what you want.

And how can I get my hands on a relatively cheap one? I'm getting a laptop for school and I'd like to see one of those, if possible. Is it too old to really be compatible with newer technology? I have an apple laptop and an olympus camera and when i plug it into my macbook to transfer pics it wont work?
I plug the cord from my camera to the usb port into my laptop and nothing comes up. and i even tried putting the CD that came with the camera into the drive and it wont read it...? any answers please?? :)

Just hold down the following keys 'Command(the Apple Key) + Fn + F5 this will turn off 'VoiceOver' under Universal Access' If that doesn't get it for you just go to 'Spotlight' in the top right corner and type Universal Access' in there then hit the 'Return' key and launch it then turn off 'VoiceOver'

use a flashdrive to transfer everything.

Use bluetooth. Enable it and make both of them discoverable. Then you pair them up, once you do this you just click on the bluetooth icon and hit send file.

I have an Apple MacBook with Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition: Mac...it's GREAT! It has the same quality as the one for Windows! Go for it!

I have a MacBook Pro and I run Windows XP on it from both Apple's Bootcamp - which runs Windows XP natively just like a Dell machine would. But I also use Parallels Workstation to run WIndows XP on VM, which allows me to run WIndows in a window on my Mac Desktop. Super cool, and very fast. Good Luck

I've had one since last month and it has worked great for everything I've done with it. I still have a lot of old pc habits to break but other than that I'm quite pleased. I would recommend getting a mac and trying it out to see how it feels. After that if you're convinced that Macintosh is the devil then you can always ebay it.

Get a Mac. You won't be sacrificing quality at all. In fact, Mac quality is generally better than PCs. Apple is consistently ranked very high or highest in customer satisfaction. Mac users are often considered fanatics about their computers, and for good reason. We see PC users all around us having trouble, so we know how good we have it! I wouldn't consider getting any other computer, especially since I won a PC laptop as a door prize a couple of years ago. I have a MacBook Pro and I run Windows XP on it from both Apple's Bootcamp - which runs Windows XP natively just like a Dell machine would. But I also use Parallels Workstation to run WIndows XP on VM, which allows me to run WIndows in a window on my Mac Desktop. Super cool, and very fast. Good Luck

I've had one since last month and it has worked great for everything I've done with it. I still have a lot of old pc habits to break but other than that I'm quite pleased. I would recommend getting a mac and trying it out to see how it feels. After that if you're convinced that Macintosh is the devil then you can always ebay it.

Get a Mac. You won't be sacrificing quality at all. In fact, Mac quality is generally better than PCs. Apple is consistently ranked very high or highest in customer satisfaction. Mac users are often considered fanatics about their computers, and for good reason. We see PC users all around us having trouble, so we know how good we have it! I wouldn't consider getting any other computer, especially since I won a PC laptop as a door prize a couple of years ago. put two fingers on the mouse scroller and click, you have to highlight what your going to copy also if you want to scroll up and down you put you two fingers in the mouse scroller and move them up and down

If it's text, you highlight it, then hold down the key to the left of the space bar with the apple and the clover on it, and while you're still holding that key down, also press the c key. To paste the text click on the part of the document that you want the text to go, and then press and hold the apple/clover key, then press the v key. If you want to copy a picture, press the ctrl key (two keys left from the apple key) and then click over the picture.

You could try the "Open office" suite (freeware, from Sun Microsystems). There's a setting for 'translating' Microsoft <>Open office... not real sure on the Apple aspect, but it's free, so worth a look. For the global settings: Oo> Tools> Options> Load/Save>Microsoft: here check whether you want Oo to handle incoming Microsoft 'stuff' (L) and/or to have your 'stuff' saved so that it can be exported to a Microsoft application (S).

You would need PowerPoint for the Mac OR a Mac PowerPoint Viewer OR Keynote on you Mac which will be able to open a PowerPoint file. There may be other possibilities, but I know these will work.

When it is plugged in to a power outlet, my 6 month old 13" Apple MacBook runs just fine. As soon as I unplug it from the outlet, it shuts down and wont turn on, unless it's plugged back in. When I look at the power level of the battery, it says, "Battery is not charging," even though it is plugged into external power; it also reads that the battery is charged at 85%. What is wrong, and what should I do?

There's a button that looks like an upward-facing arrow at the top right corner of your keyboard, above the delete key. That button will eject your CD. You can also drag the disk image over to the trash.

in truth it depends on the skin, ive seen both kinds, some that have a cut out so the Apple logo can be seen thru and some that have no cut out, however even for the ones that dont, the apple logo will still be seen because of the light that the logo emits, it may actually look cooler if you had a cool design that ran over the logo, and then it was luminescent over the logo...i believe protective covers and cases are the only things that dont have the apple logo

Try buying a router. They're no too expensive and you can use your MacBook anywhere around your house. It uses AirtPort(extreme) and will pick up the signal wirelessly. GO out and get the router, hook it up to the modem and your MacBook should recognize it when you set up airport. Fairly simple process.

I would say the Macbook Pro 13 inch. Here is why: The vanilla Macbook only comes with 2 GB RAM. If you upgrade it to 4 GB then you are paying nearly as much as the cost of the 13 inch Pro anyway.

I'm primarily going to use the laptop for web research and email when I'm not at home. It doesn't need to be the top model available, just something that will handle those two tasks. I'm thinking of buying one of the new Macbooks from Apple. I usually go by the philosophy of buying the highest level of technology that I can afford.... but in this case... I'm not sure whether the solid state hard drive is worth the money.

The main profit is that they're extremly fast, thats pretty much the difference from SSD and HDD. SSD though has very small amount of space (for some that is), but if you dont need alot of that, Id say go for it.

Solid state hard drive have no moving parts, kind of like a an external flash drive but much faster and the capacity is much greater. Solid state drives are however very expensive if bought separately. But their claim to fame is almost zero read/write times since there is no disk inside spinning. They are worth every penny.

hi vee dee, apple is far from the best cause that title is held by dell according to consumer report but when you talk apple although they come out with some good products their computers is a lost dog, no offence the reason is they are having petition problems. please aloow me to explain when you buy apple computer you get a tune-up diskett that gives your computer it's mac and people uses internet explorer 7 and windows xp on it but then you have an error and that is any error you are automaticly shot right to your windows which is mac. bummer man cause you lost all of that information plus your time and date is screwed up also so what you do is put your tune up diskett in your dvd driver and start all over again but you lost all of that data. good luck hope i was helpful to you

When is the best time to buy an Apple laptop?
I don't know enough about their release patterns to know when they are likely to release a new or updated laptop. Does anyone have a good feel for the best time of the year to buy a new laptop. In the car business, new cars tend to hit at the end of the Summer, and that helps you get a feel for when you should time your purchase. I don't want to buy a laptop only to see the thing replaced by something 2x as fast a month later. Thanks in advance.

aplle........ive had two dell desktops and one dell laptop....both dell desktops lasted only about 2 years and the laptop was only 1yr(3 days past warranty).maybe its just me but ive had horrible luck with dells...everyone i know with an apple is really happy so id get one of those

I got a Dell XPS its perfect, the customer service is great, and the prices are logical. I just LUV my Dell !! Apple notebooks with the same configs, are just more expensive than of Dell's, donno why. I AM completely satisfied with my dell ;)

both are good companies with well made products.. If you are going to spend for an apple, you would be comparing to a dell studio series or xps series NOT an inspiron series. Macs are well built, but they are hard to get used to at first. They are generally better for professional musicians and journalists. They are more expensive, more expensive to repair, more expensive to maintain and software is more expensive for the same exact title. PC's are better for MOST people. If you are watching video, surfing the net and listening to music, you should get a PC Dells are cheaper to maintain, they have better repair policies. In most cases it's in home or office,next business day instead of waiting for a few weeks or having to take it in to an apple store. I also recommend you look at lennovo, hp, toshiba and compaq. Avoid acer and gateway.

Apple laptop connect to my home wireless
can an apple laptop connect to my home wireless that has three Microsoft PCs connected to it?
i am thinking about buying a new macbook but i will only do this if it can connect to my home wireless that i have already set up. my home network is on a netgear wireless router and i don't konw weather an apple laptop can connect to this. i also want to be able to access my networked files on my microsoft pc.

your fans are weak! what you need to do is take it to a shop and tell them the problems and they will tell you were u can buy a new fan ect. or u can look up the name of your pc and buy the fan yourself and install ect. diy style

There are fan plates you can buy that you set your laptop and it cools it, but any time you access a program that uses alot of memory or CPU power then you will generate heat. You can download the application here for free: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2006/10/16/modify-adjust-and-control-fan-speed-and-temperature-of-apple-macbook-macbook-pro-and-mac-mini/ If this does not solve your problem then you should move to the second option. 2) If the fan is broken (not necessarily so!), then you need to get it replaced. The Macbook comes in black and white and the Macbook Pro and Air come in a greyish-silver color. I haven't seen any other colored Macs unless you meant Ipods, or there are companies that will paint your Macbook all sorts of colors.

Is there anyway i can use a zune with my apple laptop? I have an ipod now, but recently have become interested in the zune, and i would like to purchase one, but the downside is its not compatible with apple, any help at all would be appreciated ! ;D

Use Boot Camp in your mac to run xp. Now you can do everything a pc does on your mac. Including games and media player etc. You will need the install discs for xp before this can work though.

I am buying an Apple Laptop for college but should I get a MacBook or MacBook Pro?
I want to buy a laptop and I know I want it from Apple but I am just confused on which one to buy? I know that the MacBook Pro is more expensive but it catches my eye most. The regular MacBook is good but what are the diffrences from both of these? Which one should I buy?

For college, you should get a Macbook Pro instead of a Macbook.

???? why apple? do you edit video? do you do 3d rendering, on large scales? apples not worth it to me if your not doing these. you'll spend 4 times as much money for a computer that does the same as a PC my friend just bought a pro, and the screen died after 3 weeks. cost 600$ to replace the screen.

It depends what you are using it for. If you are into video/audio production, graphic arts, or even website production, then the MacBokk Pro, would be more ideal. The MacBook is a damn fine machine, but it lacks a separate GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) It uses 64 Mb of the System RAM, so the graphics are still great, but not ideal for graphic arts or video production. The MacBook is still great if all you use it for is typing up reports and projects, etc. I would suggest the MacBook Pro for its 128 or 256 Mb Graphics and faster processor speed. Also the MacBook Pro has larger screen and they are HD.

Dont buy a Mac. They have barely any good games. Seriously, Macs are only for basic uses such as browsing the internet and are designed for people who dont know how to turn a computer on. If you buy a PC it will cost less, and be able to handle much more. Not to mention it will be able to play all the games you want it to play.

There are many more games available for computers running Windows and many manufacturers make laptops that are designed just for hard core gamers, so it makes sense that the vast majority of gamers use these laptops. For the first poster to denigrate every Mac and Mac user as hopeless cases says more about what he or she doesn't know than about what he or she does. If your computer purchase is strictly for gaming you are better off with a computer designed for that purpose.

You could go to the mac website, and look for you brand and see the reviews or somthing, go to amazon and check the reviews, or you could call the company and tell them which on it is, and tell them to fix it.

Please let me know if my password could have been saved on his laptop? apple users?
i checked my e-mail at this guy's place. he has an apple laptop. so, i assume he uses shelfari as the web browser? i did not see a pop-up that asked me if i want the password to be remembered for my e-mail account. i use gmail. should i be ok assuming my password did not get saved on his laptop. i changed it now but its been a month since i checked my e-mail at his place a few times.

what's so bad if it is saved to his computer? by 'him' i'm assuming it's your significant other, or best friend. are their nasty emails about him, if so, ou are in trouble. safari generally doesn't save things, it's nothing like firefox. go to his house and 'check your emails' again, or just change your current password so he can't see it. also computers aren't allowed to save personal details without asking, so it's highly unlikely :)
