There are only two ways. 1. Would be to take the harddrive out of the dell and put it into the apple and get the songs onto your computer. 2. Burn all the songs onto a CD and then import them into your computer.

its very simple, where do you store all your music, if its in the itunes folder just copy the folder to your new laptop, same location, this should work fine. If all your songs are not in the itunes folder find those folder and copy it over. The problem arises if you are not going to have it in the same place with the same user name. itunes will report the files missing. This has good steps. http://hifiblog.com/past/2006/05/11/howto-move-your-itunes-music-while-preserving-library-data-when-you-dont-let-itunes-manage-your-music-library/ dont forget to deauthorise the current computer

Lindsay is incorrect (or at least incomplete). You can do it over a network or use an external hard drive. Take your "My Music" folder and drag it into the other computer's iTunes application. Alternatively, you could pay $5 for a 1-month subscription to a service like ibackup.com and upload/download your music 5 GB at a time. Good luck!

The new version of ITunes allows you to import the files in the format they are stored on the hard drive. So you first will need to move them across. I suggest creating a netwaork share between the to machines. Copy the files over to a folder and then do a import within iTunes.

Plug a network cable from the Dell to the Mac. The Mac is capable of detecting if it is plugged into a hub or to another computer and will automatically configure its ethernet port as a crossover port. Anyway, you have just created a network between your two computers and can directly copy from the Dell to the Mac. No need to burn to a CD, remove the hard drive or use an external drive. You may have to tinker with a couple of network settings to get the computers to see each other. I have done this before several times. BTW, the Mac is more likely to see the Dell than vice versa based on the default security settings for each machine. Enable file sharing on the Dell, making sure that the folder with the tunes on the Dell is shared, find them using the Mac, and hen copy them over to the Mac.
